The 18-2244 Drain Plug Screw & Gasket Kit is designed to fit Mercury/Mercruiser #1/MR/R/Alpha/Alpha I Gen II Upper & Lower Units. It replaces part numbers 816610A1, 816610A1, 10-F50109, F40109, 10-79953, 9-72650, 10-28634, 10-79953Q04, and 10-79953Q2.

This pump is designed to accommodate standard quart bottles and comes equipped with three different adapters: a 3/8-inch metal swivel adapter, an 8mm-1.25 male to 3/8-inch-16 female adapter, and a 10mm-1.25 male to 3/8-inch-16 female adapter.

The 3/8-inch swivel steel adapter offers superior convenience compared to plastic alternatives, as it eliminates the need to turn the entire pump when screwing it into the drain hole. Moreover, the steel construction ensures the threads will not be stripped, a common issue with plastic adapters.

For American-made outboards, the 3/8-inch swivel adapter is typically all that is required, as most American brands feature a 3/8-inch lower unit drain hole. However, for foreign-made outboards, one of the two metric adapters, used in conjunction with the 3/8-inch swivel adapter, will likely be necessary (please note that this kit is not compatible with Volvo Penta models).
